From an Idea by a Valle d'Aosta Physician, EMSy is Born: Artificial Intelligence for Prehospital Emergency Care
A year has passed since the prestigious Valle d'Aosta newspaper AostaSera interviewed us, intrigued by the first posts we were publishing on social media. EMSy had not yet been born and we didn't yet know the reception it would receive from friends and colleagues. Now, one month after the launch of the first Beta version of EMSy, we present again the article that Matteo Scieghi, journalist for AostaSera, wrote for us.

From the idea of physician Simon Grosjean, EMSy is born, an advanced assistant based on artificial intelligence, designed specifically to support emergency physicians and nurses. Its goal is to provide rapid and reliable responses in just seconds, transforming the journey to the intervention area into an opportunity to prepare optimally.
AI in the Service of Emergency Care
In the last two years, artificial intelligence has become a central theme in technological debate. While on one hand its potential is indisputable, on the other hand questions often arise about what its most concrete and useful applications are. Beyond summarizing texts, translating, or generating ideas, AI sometimes risks appearing as a solution in search of a problem, rather than the opposite.
Yet, there are areas where the integration of artificial intelligence can truly make a difference. One of these is prehospital emergency care, a context in which every second is precious and decisions must be rapid, based on updated scientific evidence.
Simon Grosjean's Idea
The question from which Simon Grosjean, territorial emergency physician and creator of the project, started was clear: how to consult guidelines, protocols, or research based on evidence-based medicine (EBM) in a rapid, accurate, and reliable way?
The answer is EMSy (Emergency Medical System), an advanced assistant based on artificial intelligence, designed specifically to support emergency physicians and nurses by providing rapid and reliable responses in just seconds, transforming the journey to the intervention area into an opportunity to prepare optimally.

And it is precisely in this critical scenario, the journey to the intervention, that this tool comes into play. Every day, physicians and nurses who work in prehospital emergency care face a well-known reality: time is life and it is not always on their side.
When critical decisions must be made in just minutes, based on the best available evidence from the moment of dispatch to arrival at the target, the time window to act is reduced. EMSy becomes useful to support the healthcare team in this crucial phase, during the journey, when every piece of information can make a difference.
How EMSy Works
The operation is simple and immediate: just enter the clinical data or diagnostic suspicion and EMSy processes the most updated guidelines, adapting them to the specific case. In just seconds, the healthcare team receives practical recommendations on:
- Medications to consider
- Protocols to follow
- Procedures to perform
EMSy's added value? Speed, reliability, and ease of use. Without the need to consult manuals or paper documents, personnel can access safe and validated information. The chatbot has been trained on the most recent scientific evidence and optimized for use in motion, guaranteeing those who use it decision support even in complex operational contexts.
